FINGER POST

Outdoor

In this era of sat navs, it is still comforting to find a familiar finger post to confirm that you are on the right track. In a sprawling business campus or housing estate, well-placed pointers make it that bit easier for you to find your way. Anywhere that there is a junction, there are grounds for using a finger post. Dating back to 17th Century England, the sign gets its name from the fact that the pointers were originally hand shaped. Now, the fashion is to give directions on horizontal slats (arms) that end in a square edge or triangular point. Slats fix to a round or square pole and are made bespoke so you can customise your design, materials and colours. Top off the piece by capping the central pole with a distinctive finial or roundrel.
